How I met Beck Hansen
I met Beck Hansen back in 1997 after his show at the Supper Club. Nice guy. Awesome musician.

I met DHH at RubyConf in real life (after meeting him online a few times). David’s an incredibly driven and visionary guy. While he’s not the only person behind Ruby On Rails these days, he’s the heart and soul.
Despite David’s impressive amount of energy, he’s down to earth and cool with just chatting with yet another of the bazillion guys thrilled with what he’s doing with Ruby.
Buy the man a beer if you get a chance.
Matz almost bowled me over at the RubyConf registration table!
Actually, matz is a great guy and casts a long shadow in the world of technology. I briefly met him at RubyConf, but got to enjoy his presentations, jokes, and seeing his thought process in action as he sketched out the future of Ruby.
David is a Ruby guru, hard-working good guy who’s made RubyCentral and RubyConf something great for everybody involved with Ruby.
Thanks David!
I ran into Austin Ziegler at RubyConf 2005. He was presenting yet another piece of his bad-ass software (PDF::Writer this time).
All around great guy. Buy him a beer, damnit!
I met Martin Fowler years ago in the pages of his books. I recently had the pleasure of actually meeting Martin Fowler in person at RubyConf 2005. Martin is a very friendly, very sharp guy. He was gracious enough to sit down and talk with me for about 15 minutes about what he’s up to and the project I’m currently working on.
Do us all a favor and buy this man a beer when you see him!
Neiras is one of the cool bravenet guys. Met him at RubyConf while we were all having a rockin’ time. Buy this man a beer when you see him.
